Use it
Exit
Send public traffic out through a friend. LAN, loopback, and the overlay stay on your ordinary route. The kernel interface does not take the default route.
Use one
Be a member of their mesh. Their exit bit is on, and their peer is installed.
az mesh accept ~friendaz exit use ~friendaz exit offaz exit use selects that exit. az exit off clears the selection. Neither command changes your own exit bit. This needs the kernel interface.
az mesh status prints exit=on on a joined dest that publishes the bit. The header exit= is your own bit. az mesh status --output json includes exit_use when a selection is active.
Offer one
Your exit bit lets accepted members send public traffic through this node. Pending names stay off.
Run az with no command. On the Mesh tab, e toggles this node’s exit bit. u picks a joined exit, the same choice as az exit use. The header shows using= for the selection.
While the bit is on, az mesh open refuses. Turn the bit off on that Mesh tab, then open. az mesh status shows exit=on or exit=off.
A member reaches the overlay address, and an exit bit covers every accepted member. Picking ping, a shell, a port, or exit per name is on the roadmap.
